The Verdict is In...

Kenny Rogers gets 20 games for 'unacceptable' behavior (story)
Wow, Bud Selig came down even harder than I thought...however, I'm a little disappointed that Kenny Rogers will get paid during his suspension (which really makes it a paid vacation, I guess).
Rogers is such a tool...he still hasn't made a public statement yet...however, he did issue a half-assed written statement through his lawyers. Way to go, Kenny...
From this moment on, I hope people remember Kenny Rogers, not for the good things he has done on the field, but the scene of him attacking helpless TV cameramen who were simply doing their job.

One More Time...

I am continuing to tinker with a couple of my shirt designs. The latest versions are shown above. To purchase one of these shirts, click here.

Startling New Study: Catching a 90 mph Fastball Can *Really* Hurt Your Hand!

Baseball Catchers Face Irreversible Hand Trauma (story)

I have to admit I was completely stunned by these new findings. I believe there is another study coming out next week which says that pro football players, despite wearing lots of padding, still can get hurt after repeatedly being hit by their opponents...shocking!

Scalped!

Vikings Head Coach Mike Tice fined 100k for scalping SB tickets...(story)

Man, I wouldn't think that times were so tough that even an NFL head coach would have to try to find ways to make some extra cash? I think I'll put the blame on Tice's significant other (wife or girlfriend or both)...they probably started squawking at him, "We're not even going to the Super Bowl! Go sell those tickets and take me out to a nice dinner!!!"

By the way, this means I now need a new hook-up for Super Bowl 40 tickets...anybody have BIll Parcells phone number?

What's the Sentence?

After getting over the shock of actually seeing GM John Hart & his toupee in person, Rangers owner Tom Hicks is now waiting to see what the punishment will be for Kenny Rogers...

Major League Commissioner Bud Selig is expected to rule Friday on just how much time off Kenny Rogers will be getting for his psycho-meltdown on Wednesday. If you believe Tom Hicks, Bud is less than pleased with what happened and is handling this case personally...if that is true, the Gambler could be in for a nice little unpaid vacation.

My guess: 15 days and a fine...

That other crazy Rangers pitcher, Frankie Francisco, learned his fate Thursday...

Ass of the Year...

Kenny Rogers showing that he is a real man...(story)
Apparently beating up on water coolers wasn't enough for Kenny Rogers. He's now taking out his frustrations on innocent TV cameramen who are simply doing their job. Boy, what a tough guy...
I actually know the cameraman who took the brunt of Rogers' attack, Larry Rodriguez...a great guy that was simply doing his job. Luckily, it sounds like he is going to be okay after being a little shaken up. I hope Larry gets some HUGE CA$H from Kenny Rogers following this incident.
As a part of the 'evil media', this event doesn't really surprise me. The Rangers have done a lot to help foster this "Us against the World" mentality in the locker room. I think, though, they sometimes forget that they need the media more than the media needs them. One perfect example is the new policy implemented in the press box at the start of this season. The team is now charging the media for food and drinks (joining the Yankees as the only 2 teams that do that in the majors). I know it sounds like a small thing, but it's just one of a number of things that the Rangers have done to try to make the atmosphere as cold and unwelcome as possible for the press.
Why does this team make it so hard for people to like them? If you ask, they'll probably blame the media...

More T-Shirt Inspiration!!!

The list of t-shirts that I have compiled at my Ticket-related merchandise site continues to grow (Just so much material to work with!). In fact, two more are available right now:

First up, of course, has to be the tribute to the wonderful events which happened at Ameriquest Wednesday afternoon when Rangers pitcher Kenny Rogers decided it was open season on TV cameramen. Get one of these shirts to let the world know how you really feel about the Gambler.

The other new shirt captures the quote that nearly every guest has been asked to say on BaD Radio. If you're a Bob and Dan fan, you'll want to look into getting one (or twenty) of these shirts.

Grubes!

The Ticket board-op you love to love...

Just added a new t-shirt at my Ticket-inspired merchandise site (click here) which features BaD Radio's board-op Grubes! Who could resist having a shirt displaying the guy whose goal in life is to get under the skin of Bob and Dan every day?

Commie Steals Super Bowl Ring...

Putin pulls a fast one on Bob Kraft (story)

It seems that Russian President Vladimir Putin has added some bling-bling to his collection, after walking off with Patriots owner Bob Kraft's Super Bowl ring following a meeting over the weekend. The question being asked now is: was it a gift or a misunderstanding? Gift???? I'm sure Kraft could've come up with something a little less costly than his SB ring: McDonalds gift certificates, a fruit basket, something. But I'm sure to avoid an international incident, he'll jump on board and say it was a gift...

As for Putin, he's probably already dumped the ring off at a Moscow pawn shop for a few extra rubles to get him through until payday...

The Freefall Continues...

If it weren't for that damn glove, Brian Shouse might not have given up that grand slam!

To say that the Texas Rangers season is quickly going into the toilet would be a bit of an understatement. The latest stumble happened in Tuesday's 5-1, 11-inning loss to the Angels (story). Not sure which is worse, getting pounded like they did Monday against LA...or to give up a grand slam in extra innings after getting a great pitching effort from emergency starter John Wasdin?

Still two games to go with the Halos in this series...8 and a half back now in the AL West...not sure what to expect...

The Aliens Made Me Do It...

Flesh-eating aliens were chasing me when I caused fatal car crash... (story)

Another one of those stories where I don't really have much to follow up with, other than to say the guy is a genius. I am definitely writing this one down just in case I need a really good excuse...

Another Must-Have T-Shirt for the Ticket Listener

Sound advice...

If you are a regular listener to the Hardline on Sportsradio 1310 the Ticket, you know that those boys love to warn the public about the dangers of 'jarring.' Now you too can help the cause by purchasing the "DON'T JAR" T-shirt at this site.

I plan on coming up with more Ticket-inspired merchandise in the future, so keep checking in.

Does Anybody Care?

I can remember 15 or so years ago loving to watch the NBA Draft. Trying to predict which players would go to which teams (especially the Mavs) was a lot of fun for a sports geek like myself. Over the last several years, however, the Draft really isn't 'must see TV' anymore.

Basically, since the NBA has now become such an international league, a huge portion of the players picked will have never been heard of by the average fan. All the graduating high school players in the mix has also added to the confusion...however, that will change next year when the new CBA goes into effect and players must be 19 before being eligible for selection.

To add even more reason to be disinterested this year is the fact that the Mavs don't have a single pick in either of the two rounds. I guess there's always a chance that they could pull off a deal, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyways, after saying all of that, don't forget to check out wall-to-wall coverage of the NBA Draft Tuesday night on Sportsradio 1310 the Ticket!

Take That, Water Cooler...OUCH!

Final Score: Water cooler 1, Kenny Rogers 0

Of all the things that could happen right now to the Texas Rangers: Kenny Rogers, the man with the best ERA in the American League, will miss his scheduled start Tuesday against the Angels after punching a water cooler during his last home start 2 weeks ago. (full story)

Fortunately it was Rogers' non-throwing hand, but don't these guys realize the potential problems tantrums like this can cause themselves and their teammates? I've been known to punch, throw or kick inanimate objects myself when I get angry while playing sports, but there's one huge difference: I don't play the sport for a living.

John Wasdin will start Tuesday in place of The Gambler...Rangers have to be keeping their fingers crossed that he can step up and provide a boost for a team that is very close to finding themselves completely out of the AL West race...

More bad news: Rangers get throttled by Halos Monday

Judas Priest Rocks Dallas!

Rob Halford- Gay as a parade, but still knows how to rock

Sunday night at the Smirnoff Music Centre, I took in the Queensryche / Judas Priest concert with a couple of friends of mine. It was my first time to see Rob Halford and the band in person, and let me just say that it was time well spent.

The one downside to the night was Queensryche who sucked. They played none of their actual mainstream hits (Jet City Woman, Silent Lucidity, etc.). I'm sure there is a group of hardcore Queensryche fans out there that would disagree with my assessment and say that they were happy with what the band played. Well, for a guy like me who only knows Queensryche from their radio hits, I was pretty disappointed not to hear any of them.

As for Priest, they did a great job of playing some new and obscure songs...while still playing all the old classics that everybody has heard. Rob Halford is the ultimate metal lead-man. He really seems to get into 'character' on stage...plus, I can't believe he can still shriek and hit those high notes after all these years.

Good times...

The Most Important Series?

Not much for Michael Young and the Rangers to smile about these days

A quick note to you
Texas Rangers fans out there: Over the next 4 days while the AL West-leading Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are in town, you will hear a lot of talk from the Texas clubhouse that this series is not that important, that there's still half a season of baseball left, etc, etc. I'm hear to tell you that that is simply not true. This could turn out to be the most important series of the entire season.

Check out the standings right now:

Angels 45-29 --
Texas 38-35 6½

Some simple math shows that a sweep by the Halos puts Texas 10½ games back...even splitting the 4-game series would just keep the Rangers at the same spot they are right now.

If you are a Texas fan, you would really like to see the Rangers take 3 of 4 and at least make up a little bit of ground in the standings. Falling much farther behind this Angels team would make the idea of competing in the West the rest of the way a little bit disheartening.
