Should This Give Me Hope???

FINLEY HAS SUCCESSFUL ANKLE SURGERY
Dallas (June 3, 2005) - Mavericks guard/forward Michael Finley had successful arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle today to remove bone chips. Finley is expected to make a full recovery by the start of training camp.

It's good news for Finley that things went okay during the operation, but should this give Mavs fans hope that they may see a little more from him this next season? Don't count on it...Fin's stats in '04-'05 continue to show declines in every major category (scoring for the 5th straight season). He's not washed up by any means, but even Fin would have to admit that his best days as a pro are behind him. Avery Johnson would be wise to consider moving Jerry Stackhouse into the starting lineup for '05-'06 and let Fin do his thing off the bench.
